Each year in the spring we join the California Association of REALTORS® and members from all over the state and converge upon Sacramento for Legislative Day. This year we will meet with our State Legislators in Sacramento and other fantastic activities on May 2-4, and we hope you can be a part of it! This is a great experience and an opportunity to understand more fully how our industry interacts with the government and how real estate gets done in other parts of our state.

You are encouraged to apply for this trip if you’ve never been before. GAOR will provide two nights of hotel on Tuesday, May 2, and Wednesday, May 3, and airfare from the LAX or Burbank. Just a few things in order to take part in this trip which is one of the highlights of the year:

  • This must be your first time going to Sacramento for C.A.R.
  • Make a REALTOR® Action Fund contribution of $148
  • Commit to getting involved in committees at GAOR, usually a two-hour commitment each month

Click on the link below to fill out your application no later than Wednesday, March 15. You can make your RAF contribution here and installment payments to RAF are acceptable.

This PDF form can be completed and emailed electronically.

Here Is an Excerpt from the Application

  • Application and RAF contributions are due to GAOR by Friday, March 15, 2023. Incomplete submissions after the deadline will not be guaranteed reservations for Legislative Day. A check for $148 made out to “REALTOR® Action Fund” or proof of online payment (in full or installments; pay online here) is due March 15.
  • It is assumed you will travel with the GAOR group to Sacramento. GAOR will secure your airfare from Burbank or LAX departing on Tuesday, May 2, and returning in the early evening of Thursday, May 4. You are responsible for your own ground transportation and parking at LAX or Burbank. Parking and ground transportation fees may be reimbursable. If you travel on a different day or time, you must make your own arrangements. If you bring a spouse or guest, you must pay for his or her airfare and group dinners; it is not guaranteed that your spouse or guest will be permitted into any meetings unless he or she is also a member.
  • C.A.R. Committee meetings are an important part of this trip. As a part of you joining us for Legislative Day on May 3, you will agree to attend the meeting for at least one C.A.R. Committee – any open committee – that matches your interests. Most committees will meet on May 2.
  • Hotel accommodations will be secured in coordination with C.A.R. event management staff. Most hotel stays will be at the Sheraton Grand or Hyatt Regency Hotels across from the State Capitol Building. Due to space restrictions and the high number of attendees, GAOR cannot guarantee that you will stay in one of these hotels. We are making additional reservations in other nearby hotels that are appropriate for business travel. If you wish to stay additional nights, please coordinate with GAOR. You must pay on your own for extra hotel nights.
  • Refer to the GAOR Travel Policy for what kinds of expenses are reimbursable. When in doubt, ask GAOR staff in advance of the trip. Send any receipts for reimbursement no later than 30 days after the completion of travel. Allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Save all receipts! Receipts are required for reimbursement; credit card statements will not be accepted.

We are really hoping for there to be a good turnout of applicants. We want to encourage all REALTORS, new and seasoned professionals, to take an interest and help to represent our association to our State Legislatures in Sacramento.
