The Glendale Association of REALTORS® remembers long-standing member Seb Sterpa who passed away in October 2023 at the age of 93. Seb had a long and influential career and presence in Glendale and in the real estate industry. He ran his brokerage Sterpa Realty Inc. from 1962 to 1985. He served as President of the California Association of REALTORS® in 1982 and Vice President of the National Association of REALTORS® in 1987.
Seb Sterpa was active not just in real estate but in many aspects of the community in ways that affected many people beyond his profession. He was a board member of the Hope through Housing Foundation, a non-profit providing housing for low-income residents. The Hope through Housing website detailed additional highlights from Seb’s career: In 1983, Governor Deukmejian appointed him Chairman of the Board of Directors of the California Housing Finance Agency (CHFA). Mr. Sterpa served for 12 years as a director of the SunAmerica Asset Management Corp., AIG Mutual Funds, and Countrywide Mutual Funds. In 1990, he received from President Cossiga of Italy the award of Commendatore of the Italian Republic.
His extensive biography is a powerful example of the value the REALTORS® bring to the communities where they live and work; Seb has shown that his value far exceeds the actual process of selling real estate and can extend anywhere the need is greatest.
