NAR Legislative Meeting 2023

REALTORS® from Glendale travel to Washington DC to make our voice heard

This month the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) held its annual Legislative Meetings in Washington DC. Thousands of REALTORS® from all over the U.S. brought concerns and support for real estate and homeownership to our elected representatives in our nation’s capital. During these meetings, local REALTORS® including GAOR President Carmen Arom, Past President Eric Toro and Government Affairs Director Greg Astorian met with elected leaders like U.S. Representatives Jimmy Gomez (D-34) and Adam Schiff (D-30) who represent much of Glendale and the surrounding communities.

The intent of these meetings is to support policies, policymakers, and the real estate industry as a whole. NAR said in a statement that it is prioritizing essential goals in 2023 for our advocacy, including developing public policy roles and solutions, continue engaging with our family and friends, thinking modern [what does advocacy look like 10 years down the road], and promotion of NAR products, research reports, and papers.

One of our industry’s great concerns for many years has been the lack of sufficient inventory of homes for sale in our communities. This poses economic risks and also may prevent otherwise qualified homebuyers from purchasing a home. NAR’s Director of Federal Tax Policy Evan Liddiard said the inventory crisis is “becoming one of the top domestic problems in our nation.”

The presence of REALTORS® in Washington and state capitals all over the country reminds our government officials that homeownership is important and real estate is a cornerstone of our economy.
