GAOR Leadership Institute

Program Goal

The goal for the leadership development program is for GAOR, through the Executive Committee, past presidents, and members, to develop and implement a systematic approach for the identification, placement, and training of future GAOR leaders.

Leaders are those members who through their involvement in associations or other organizations are perceived to possess the skills, aptitude, interests, and motivation to become a committee chair, and/or a GAOR elected officer.
The program is designed to further develop a person’s leadership skills in a structured program that offers training and critical evaluation.

Note: It cannot be overemphasized that participation in this program is for self-improvement and does not in any manner project or guarantee that a participant will receive preferential treatment by the Nominating Committee should the participant decide to pursue elected office.

Participation details

Any REALTOR® member may request to participate in the program and any member may be requested to apply to participate by a member of the Leadership Development Committee member.

The program will be limited to twelve (12) new participants each year.

Each candidate will complete an application form to establish their past level of participation and involvement in associations and other groups.

Governmental Affairs & Advocacy

Friday, August 13, 2021

This course will teach participants the importance of advocacy and introduce Governmental Affairs outreach done by the Association. The course will also cover, Realtor Action Fund, Governmental Affairs Director Role, and an overview of Government. History of organized Real Estate. (Opportunity to attend Legislative Day, details to follow)

Professional Standards & Ethics/Arbitration

This course covers professional standards guidelines and procedures, the National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics, advertising guidelines, and Procuring Cause/Arbitration.


Friday, October 8, 2021

This course covers the rules of CRMLS, ITECH MLS, assessment schedule, and hearing panels for violations, as well as tips on how to avoid assessments. Additionally, the course will cover MLS technology, listing syndication, IDX, public websites, and understanding listing data.

Mechanics of an AOR / D.A.N.G.E.R. Report

This course will cover the relationship with C.A.R. (California Association of Realtors) and NAR (National Association of Realtors), the SRAR Strategic Plan, an introduction to committees, the roles of leadership on committees, and member benefits.
